Resources

I love making connections between people; here you’ll find some of my favorites.

Writing Resources

There are so many places to continue our journey as writers. Some of the ones that are dearest to me are:

AllWriters Workshop & Workplace, LLC

AllWriters Workshop & Workplace, LLC . From classes on poetry to novel-in-progress workshops to individual coaching by award-winning writers, AllWriters has been a huge part of my own journey as a writer.

Persimmon Tree

Persimmon Tree is a literary magazine that celebrates women writers. I love this beautiful online journal. It has so much to say, includes so many talented women, and published a short forum essay of mine recently. Here’s where you can find them: https://persimmontree.org

Wisconsin Writers Association

Wisconsin Writers Association is such a great organization—I have attended events and workshops they offer. It is so good to be part of the writing community in my home state.

Chicago Writers Association

Home

Another great writing organization. They host Let’s Just Write! An Uncommon Writers Conference every year. I loved being there, right downtown. I grew up in Chicagoland and had my first grown-up apartment there, along with my first job after college (LeoBurnett!). Chicago Writers lets me get back to the city as a real part of things.

Writers

Kathie Giorgio

Kathie Giorgio, founder of AllWriters Workshop & Workplace, is an award-winning author and amazing soul. None of us is sure exactly how she gets everything done (I suspect magic), but I am grateful for her and her work.

Carrie Newberry

Gifted writer (see her amazing urban fantasy series, starting with Pick Your Teeth With My Bones, followed by Wolf is a Four-Letter Word). Also my coach, sherpa, enthusiast, teller of truths about my work. I am so lucky to have her as a coach.

Patricia Skalka

http://www.patriciaskalka.com

Patricia is the friend who encouraged me to get back into my writing. Over a cup of coffee, we shared our stories of almost giving up on our manuscripts. She had gone on to write the award-winning Dave Cubiak Door County Mysteries. I was not sure whether to continue with my sketchy manuscript. She was kind enough to encourage me and point me in the direction of Kathie and the crew at AllWriters. I cannot thank Patricia enough. And give yourself the gift of one of her books—be warned, though, you might be up all night.
