What a wonderful—and credible—world Lynne Shaner has created. She makes magic seem the norm in this classic tale of good versus evil while weaving in parallels to the very real world we humans inhabit. I shuddered at the politics and strife that so sadly reflect our society and delighted in the science she so deftly incorporates. A job well done, with the happy promise of more to come in this new series.
